Advice for shore opportunities on Salts Spring island in Spring

Hi all,

New to the "surf" discipline. Visiting a friend who moved to Salts Spring in late March for a few days and am wondering if there are any shore opportunities worth persuing or should I just stick to St. Mary Lake instead?

Much of the waterfront is Private Property which complicates things-this is true of all of the GI.

There is a pier @ Fernwood Point Beach I've never fished from it though or seen anyone trying.
