we stayed at mills landing last june. osama was the taxi driver that day. friends motored down from port alberni. roadway was not too bad, lots of grading going on and not very much traffic. signage is ok but pay attention. the town is dead! fuel for the boat was available but the price, as posted, was astronomical! we hauled our own supplies as we were warned that there would not be any place open to eat. on the boardwalk, there is a small wide spot, that is sometimes open, that prepares food. their schedule of operation seems to be tuned to the owneres mood for the day, so don't count on that. we had fueled the vehicle in alberni so i can't help with that part of your question. all in all, a very sleepy place.

Last summer the pub was open. The little restaurant in town was open, general store, marine store, gas dock was open, basically everything you need.
A lot of backpackers in town.
Quiet. Yes.
Good that way.

Fishin' anywhere anytime for anything

WOW!!!!

there sure is some changes there.

Sad to see the old Bamfield Inn run down. Started my guiding days there, working for old Wally and what we called "Whallies World". Fished out of old 17' Whaler rip offs. What great summer up there. Would sit in the Coast guard Station and BS with Cliffe during time off. Man did he have some good looking daughters!!!:D:)(at least back then they were)

Then moved over the Tyee Lodge and worked for Mike and Liz, before they split up.

Millsy, myself and a couple of other guys built Mills Landing, back when JT's mom owned the land. We built all the cabins. Used to get up and fish the morning and build during the afternoon, drove her nuts.....she was happy when it was windy out, as she got a whole days work out of us:D.

Many a long night was spent in the pub, and eating the "Smiley Burger" was a feat for some.

What ever happened to "Donny the Pirate", he used to run the water taxi and school boat???

Might try to get back over there as a good friend of mine still has an guiding operation there.

Kind of sad to see thing as they are.

Cheers
