85cm Chinook = ?? pounds?

I suspect a fair number of fish are going to be measured before releasing. I am pretty good at eye balling them in the water and seeing if they are clipped before netting but have just bought a new knotless net to go a little easier on them if we make a mistake and bring an unclipped over 85 cm into the boat. I cannot bring myself to call them wild knowing that a great many hatchery Chinook are not clipped, especially in Canada.

Today a 21 pound spring from Otter was bang on 85cm. Also caught a 12 pound clipped stubby and lost 2 others. Also trolled up another chicken halibut at Muir. Rough ride up to Otter this morning then decent once we got there. By 10am is was getting real crappy so we pulled the pin around 11am. Not a nice weather day and never saw another boat all day.

It sounds like an 85cm fish could be anywhere from 15-22 lbs depending on the girth.
a short fat fish could be the same length as it's long skinny cousin and weigh 5 lbs more.
too many variables in this slot limit and obviously not a good means of conserving fish.
