60 hp yamaha

Has the overheat alarm gone off yet ?
2 or 4 stroke ?
I had a 2004 F60 that had the same problem, changed thermostat and still overheating.
A complete tear down revealed all the cooling passages were plugged with salt.

thanks for the replay 4 stroke i run it for 30 min or so and no heating problem the head was not hot where is a good place to get a thermostat thanks

I had similar problem with Mercaha 50. No tach, but alarm would go. Ran it on idle for an hour in a big barrel with a cup of Salt- Away everyday for a week then tested in the lake at wot. Fixed it. Use something to deflect the telltale water back to the barrel (no need to empty and refill). Thermostat will likely be salted too. You can clean them and reuse if the rubber seal is still good to a point.

Get the OEM Yamaha thermostat from the closest dealer.
I tried an Amazon stat and it was junk.
