Yup another Hourston podding
I'm just in the preliminary researching aspect of it.
When looking at the differences between a 250 and a 300 the specs seem to be identical even the price is close (Suzuki canada site)
What gives there
I don't really see any price difference till we get to the 225. Most are saying thats not going to cut it Screenshot_20170822-001022.png

Get the 300hp..... less work for the motor and better fuel economy cruising.... seen a few out there this year in the sound and there all 300 hp

Hey 23Hourston, I went through the very same delima and was also informed that the 300 would make for a better power for economy and resale, I am alway considering resale so I went with the 300. More sometimes is better, the motor will not be working as hard vs a 225 or 250 although a 250 might be just fine. If I could afford new I would prefer Susuki but unfortunately that was/is not in my budget.

its the same motor just a different computer telling it to feed more fuel. both great motors

I agree, this could be said, I think for all manufactures of the 225, 250 and 300. Most if not all have the same weight or very close to the same the only diff is the fuel delivery system...

By the way nice boat, PM me a few pic, how is the inside finished? I'm looking for ideas :)

Island Outfitters in Victoria has been running a podded 26' Hourston as a guide boat for at least 10 years - I haven't seen it for a few years, but I recall it being a 225 or 250, which they said was plenty of power for guest parties and would go over 40 mph.

That is good to know, weight wise no diff or very little between 225, 250 and 300 so I probably have a few more horses than i would ever need or use, unless it’s outrunning a weather system fishing tuna 30-50 miles out :)

Hindsight Charters in Renfrew runs a 26' with a pod. He ran it with twin 140's for a long time. He eventually went with 150's for a bit and now runs twin 200's. He would be a good contact on the pod as well.

Thank you, I’ll reach out to them...
