2013 Fall Halibut fishing thread.

After being shut out of our fall halibut fishery for several years, many folks up here on the North Island are enjoying the opportunity to get out and catch a hali with their family and friends. This has traditionally been the time of year that the "close by" banks and shoals heat up, and I have seen many locals and visitors out fishing in smaller boats. To sum it up, the fishing has been very good!
Anyhow, without falling into to the political debate vortex, who else is getting out for a jig and enjoying the fall fishery? Lets see some pictures!!:)

Already pulled the boats Mike. Next time you have an open seat let me know would be fantastic to get myself a fall hali.

El Capitan. Are you fishing out of Hardy or Winter Harbour? I am going out to Nootka next week to do likewise.

I have been fishing the Port Hardy side, but I hear it has been good on the Quatsino side as well as Port McNeill. We did well on Tuesday even though the weather was mediocre and the tides were huge. I bet it gets really good as the tides ease up.

Sounds good Mike, weekend is pretty open but Monday is the best, kids in school! That being said, I am game anytime.

Wade, Mac here, Tony myself and a couple pals chartered a beaver back up to bamfield where the boat still is and we gonna fish for some hali"s on he way home wednesday/thursday.

looking forward to it.

if you are going to fish them on the way home,, definitely on troll at swiftsure.

Even if its too rough (or your too chicken - my case) there are still a few inside Barkley. :)

It was just nice having the opportunity to go out and give it a go. Nice fish there Mike...your passenger the other day was a nicer catch! lol

I for one am super happy that everyone let go slabs all year so you guys could have the opportunity to give it go! Nice fish Kelly!

I didn't catch a single halibut all summer. I can't wait to get out there and give it a go. I'll be out sometime on the weekend:).

Good Luck John. Save us a couple. Tides are great this weekend. Looks like we will be up there next weekend to help the lady close up her float house and bring her boat home.Planning to get one day to drop the pick and try to get one last Hali each. bigger tides next weekend
for sure for us so would not be my choice of weekends but they are never too horrible out there.

Great time to be on the water ! Was out fishing a couple of days ago.

With the extended season I'm surprised there isn't a Thanksgiving "turkey" derby this weekend. Looks like great weather across most of the province and sounds like half-way decent tides to boot. In any case, I'll be checking this thread for pics of the turkeys caught this weekend so that even though I'm stuck in the Interior I can live vicariously through all of you!! Good luck, stay warm and safe!
