Hey, I guess the tow haul mode on chev trucks crapping out is common. The whole shift lever needs to be replaced in order to fix the switch at the end of it. The qoute for the part I got was $320. I fixed it for $6.
Remove the panel below the steering wheel and the metal (fire?) sheild behind that. You will see an orange set of wires smack in the centre of your vision. Unplug them and jumper the female end. If the light on the dash comes on it is the switch. Pick up a momentary push button at Radio Shack and butt splice it and install down low out of veiw.
Now explain to your wife the part cost $320 and put $314 dollars of gas in your boat.
