1990 Double Eagle 30 Rebuild PART 2 Time for a repower!!

We have used the boat extensively and finished it out nicely for cruising and fishing.

However, I didn’t update the engine or transmission. It currently has a Cummins V504(v8 diesel) from the 70’s. Parts are getting harder to source, it’s dirty and low on power. Also has a dry exhaust setup that I cannot wait to get rid of.

I’ve sourced a running takeout 5.9BTA Cummins with a ZF transmission. 300hp. It will be nice to have a wet exhaust system and get rid of the muffler box off the back deck.

Project starts next week and I’ll try to keep up on the progress picture and reports.

As much as dry exhaust is annoying for the deck space it consumes, it makes it real nice when your on the deck working gear or other things. Puts that exhaust well above your working area. Six of one half of the other
 
We typically are running on the kicker unless transiting somewhere.
Hopefully the pros outweigh the cons. Looking forward to less soot and noise.

6b will be nice, set the overhead before installing
