I fish out front Salmon Point.
The first drop off goes to about 100 feet and I can catch pink and coho fairly easy if they are around. And the occasional Chinook.
I want to target Chinook this week, at the point, is there a recommended depth I should try?
South of quadra the 200 foot range is...
Wondering if anyone has been hitting it since opening day and how the fishing is? Use to fish the Thompson River with lots of luck but never opened last year and doesn't look like it will this year so may have to consider trying to figure out how to catch them in the lake.
I've tried to find answer's as to why this year DFO opened Kamloops Lake, South Thompson River, Shuswap River and Mabel Lake per usual BUT have kept the Thompson River closed? My thought is that those salmon swimming up the Thompson are the exact same salmon as they're catching in Kamloops lake...
Couple vids I put together from Ucluelet.
Chinook action with underwater footage off little beach and a double header. Biggest was 22 pounds 7 ounces at the dock.
I know most people realize rockfish are easy to catch, but some people always seem to ask me with a puzzled look on their face...

Hi,
I know this may be a very "green" question. If I am to catch a Chinook when do I gut the fish, right after the catch? Do I keep a cooler with ice one me and just gut it later ?
If anyone can let me know the proper procedure after catching and killing the best way to keep the fish fresh...

Merry Christmas everyone!
I’m hoping to get out one of these days and would like to know if there’s anything in particular I should be prepared for in such cold temperatures (ie frozen eyelids).
Much appreciated!

Hey guys, first post on here! I was just wondering if anyone has heard yet about the Fraser River opening this season for retention of chinook salmon. Pretty much any salmon really, last year was a bit of a drag.
I start with shoulder cuts of either Coho or Spring salmon. No white springs I save those for candy salmon that is being dried in the dehydrator right now. Both sides of the cut I sprinkle a light coat of rock salt and heavy layer of white pepper and a thick layer of dill. I wrap them in...
Its been a difficult winter for me to accomplish anything. I am told I was suffering a major lack of vitamin D. The symptoms is classed as SAD seasonal affective disorder. Finally I finished the video for last fall beach fishing season. It SO SO but it shares some of the best days we had.
This...
This is my secound year trying to make the journal movie. Here is a teaser trailer. It was a tough year fishing on the beaches with the heavy rains, winds, extreme high surf. Yet we did find openings and took advantage of them. Four new sponsor came through with new products to test out on the...
Hi Guys
I just joined up with Jughead to do up some 'voltage tuned' bait rigs. Most manufacturers use the common overhand knot for loops. I happened to be trying out a new (to me) brand of fishing line and thought I would do some strength comparisons. While doing this, I discovered that a...
