Partnering for 'Reel Change' with Peetz OutdoorsBy Pacific Salmon Foundation,
Sampling for near-shore species that impact salmon abundance in Cowichan Estuary as part of the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project.
PEETZ has been a long time supporter of the Foundation and helped raise $150,000 during our 2014 year-end fundraising campaign to raise funds for the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project - a five-year, $10 million project to restore Coho and Chinook in the Strait of Georgia.
PEETZ has been synonymous with salt water fishing in the pacific northwest for generations of fisherman and the company has recently taken on new partners with a strong desire to expand the company's product line and community engagement. PEETZ is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year and to mark that milestone, the "REEL CHANGE" program was launched. The partnership will see a donation of $10 from each Peetz fishing reel sold via its website during 2015 go directly to Pacific Salmon Foundation and in particular the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project.
"PEETZ is a respected legacy brand in the BC fishing landscape and we want to use that brand to be a part of the solution when it comes to ensuring that future generations can enjoy the wonderful outdoor experience at our fingertips here on the Pacific Coast" said PEETZ Outdoors partner, Marc Hoelscher. "We wanted to make a meaningful contribution as a company, but we are also giving our customers a matching opportunity that will see many sales generating a $20 contribution to "REEL CHANGE" for every reel sold.

"We are so pleased to have PEETZ Outdoors join us in our Salish Sea Marine Survival Project." said Michael Meneer, VP, Development, Marketing and Communications for the Pacific Salmon Foundation. "This kind of grassroots support is foundational in meeting the challenges we face in protecting our marine environment. It is also worth noting that donations such as these to Pacific Salmon Foundation are typically leveraged/multiplied up to seven or more times by sourcing other government and private matching programs targeted at community level projects. This means the combined PEETZ purchaser donation of $20 per reel can trigger $140 or more in project funding and make a real difference towards salmon habitat protection and restoration. We thank PEETZ and their customers for their support."
